A Clear and Simple Message

I normally do not voice such opinions in the blog and try to keep it functioning on an already peaceful play field. But certain widespread incidents have compelled me to share the following message with you. As you may have noticed, the byline of the site is “Simple, Happy, Debt-free lives” . Lets stretch that out a bit, shall we?

What features prominently is the word ‘HAPPY’. AND ONE CAN FIND HAPPINESS in a lot of ways. For some it means a peace of mind, for some emotional security, a financial security or both or an ability to work towards making their dreams come true.

Human life, aspirations and abilities sometimes get devalued. Gets cheap. Death can occur in a very humiliating manner or living can become just as humiliating. Certain people do not have any choices. So revel in the happiness you can find. Because in today’s world it might be short-lived. No, its not about not being happy since you couldn’t buy your favorite dress, its because some one else has the freedom to take away everything you have in a matter of seconds. What can you do? Live cautiously? Live FEARFULLY? Yeah, GOOD LUCK WITH EVEN THAT.

The first one has a satirical message to society as a whole showing how weak and crumbling its fundamental structures have become and it takes no more than a bunch of misfits to bring it to it’s knees in shame, turmoil and powerlessness.

(To those unfamiliar with certain events of the past and might not be able to understand the tone of the first video, here’s a short intro : In December 2102, a horrific gang-rape and death of a 23 year old student in New Delhi shook the nation into a morbid plethora of angst and tremendous shock . The girl was beaten and raped in a moving bus and police records reveal that she was penetrated by a rod, possibly a wheel jack handle that even damaged her intestines and she succumbed to her injuries a few days later (Information source: Wikipedia).

Here is what Wikipedia says further (Disclaimer: you may want to skip this part) : The partially clothed victims (the woman and her male friend) were found on the road by a passerby at around 11 pm (IST). The passerby phoned the Delhi Police, who took the couple to Safdarjung Hospital, where the female victim was given emergency treatment and placed on mechanical ventilation.[19] She was found with injury marks all over her body, and only five percent of her intestines remaining inside of her abdomen. According to reports, one of the accused men admitted to having seen a rope-like object, assumed to be her intestines, being pulled out of the woman by the other assailants on the bus.[20]

The aftermath wasn’t what might have been expected after a series of revolted protests and soon many other cases surfaced across the country. The final blow came when a so-called juvenile ( supposedly few months shy of 18 and said to be the main perpetrator of the crime; crime is a minor word here) was let off easily and the defense lawyer’s comment that he would set his daughter ablaze if she indulged in pre-marital sex threw the nation back into the stone age and sparked a new round of controversy.

Take a look at the video:

“Rape? Ladies, it’s your fault!”

And the term “bhaiya” refers to an older brother in Hindi.

Here’s the other one. Just notice how fickle human emotions are. It takes seconds to turn from elation to shocked disbelief.

It’s a short clip About the Red Light District of Amsterdam

So take care of yourselves. Take care of the ones you love. Be happy. Life is delicate. Bonds are paper thin. Humiliation comes easy. Live; not just survive.

But let’s not be pessimistic. Just be alert and cautious when venturing into difficult terrains. Your bravery can sometimes be good enough only for you. And with a little bit of luck and good fortune, you will get through.

  1. Thank you for posting this and speaking out. I have been trying to raise the issue and get as many people as I can to take a stand against rape. I feel I have a very small voice in a very large wilderness when I talk about rape. People don’t want to think about it, hear about it. I applaud you for speaking up. Thank you. Namaste.

    1. That is very true. This topic, for many people, is best kept under wraps as they find it unpleasant to even talk about it let alone do something to curb this. In fact, I had to think twice before I published this piece. I didn’t know whether this would be welcome by our regular readers and we don’t want to be labelled as part of an organization pro one community and bashing up another. This article hopes to strive for the rights of an individual; the right to a happy, prosperous and peaceful life and the development/functioning of the society based on a sound system.
Thank you for your support! Namaste.
