Planning the Biggest Event of the Year

It is the time of the year I eagerly anticipate. There is no dearth of events and excitement during the spring and there are literally dozens of events and conferences to attend. Before I was a blogger, I assumed the strict, invite-only science conferences were the ultimate and one of the most sophisticated platforms for networking and building meaningful and lasting relationships.

After working on building my blog and developing relationships with other bloggers, I realised that it was no longer a hobby but a very important and integral part of my life. Invites from new companies to attend the launch of their product or service started pouring in to the mail box. I started loving being given access to stuff much before any of my friends! The excitement reached the next level when a couple of months ago, I received an invite to be a part of a committee to organise a bloggerโ€™s meet in Bangalore. I accepted at once.

My job was to streamline the attendees from my city, Kolkata. The organisers, who were from different parts of the country, got together to discuss the best venue for the event. We had to make sure we selected among the hotels near the Bangalore airport so that it was easy for everyone to manage.

Since there were many brands participating, we had to select from the business hotels in Bangalore. The meet would largely comprise of various events, a great deal of networking and also, brands unveiling a new product or service. This would naturally lead to a great many lasting relationships and collaborations between the brands and the blogging community. So, the ambience had to be perfect.

We made a checklist of what was required before getting down to selecting the hotel itself. We needed a venue that could comfortably accommodate a considerable number of people over a span of two days. We needed to make sure the hotel offered both global and local cuisines as we were expecting some representatives of international brands to attend along with bloggers from all over the country who had different preferences in food. We needed the rooms to have a great view. When a few phone calls did not yield the results we had desired, one of the team members suggested that we search online for the best hotels in Bangalore. It worked like a dream.

Much to our gladness the meet went smoothly and everyone seemed happy. We concluded it on a high note glad to have made it a roaring success.
