I entered my room only to be greeted by the smell of the big, white furry Labrador Retriever who came running towards me in full speed, his tongue dancing along with him and spreading saliva every where. Bending, I scratched him as he wagged his tail. I wondered what he did all day because he always ended up smelling like something that the cat dragged in! He had been given a bath just yesterday and he had managed to make a mess of himself already. The room had started to reek of his smell. Boy, he needed a bath. And fast! Taking him for a bath was the toughest job on the planet. I’d have to hold his paws and drag him across the floor. Or hold him by his chest, heave him up and walk with him towards the tub. There he’d try and run away but I’d hold him firmly and lather up his body with a strong soap. I’d then brush his teeth while he swallowed away his favourite minty toothpaste. We’d then play with his towel and dry his fur and give him a treat for being a good boy and taking a bath while he goes into my room and shakes his fur to be rid of the remaining water droplets in front of my mirror to exact revenge.
The room however still had that beastly stench which he had left behind and I could see the mockery in his eyes and slowly wagging tail while he panted with his tongue hanging fully on the right side of his mouth. You can see that mischievous smile on his face. The devil! The stink could kill! It was so bad and I needed to remove it so as to avoid scolding from my mother for adopting a dog and then not taking care of him and the house, as promised. Quickly grabbing the mop, I started wiping the floor ignoring that dog who watched on gleefully. After vigorous scrubbing with water and soap the house still held that foul smell. This was a disaster.
I slapped myself hard on the forehead for not thinking of using an air freshener! Instead I went on a cleaning spree! It was all the dog’s fault! He distracted me far too much! My mother was going to be home soon so I had to act quickly. I had a few collection of air fresheners from Ambi Pur in Lavender Vanilla, Linen and Sky, Spring and Renewal and Thai Dragon Fruit. These are my favourites as they have such intense, exquisite smell that lingered for such a long time. Grabbing Thai Dragon Fruit, I sprayed it all around my home. Just a small spritz had managed to extinguish all those nasty smells and left the air full of delicate, sweet smell.
I sighed in relief and lit a few scented candles, brewed some tea and waited for my mother to arrive. She came home eventually and was relaxed by the warmly lit, cosy room, her delicately brewed tea and the beautiful, relaxing fragrance all around her. With my now soft and snoring dog on my right side and my relaxed mom on my left, I thanked the person who came up with air fresheners!
