Summer time is in full swing and it generally reverberates to the start of the process of losing the extra pounds gained during the winter months, hidden away carefully underneath layers of clothes. Switching over to a crash diet in an attempt to lose all those extras is never a good idea.

If a person goes on a crash diet and loses weight, this loss of weight does not necessarily equate with the loss of fat but rather with the loss of water that can be harmful for the body. The body’s complex interplay during the metabolic processes is disrupted and rather than benefitting the body the body begins to crave its lost fats and nutrients.

The healthier alternative is a balanced, nutritional diet coupled with a proper work-out regime and, over all habits is the best way to go.

A nutritionally well-balanced diet is imperative for the body’s optimal growth and development. This includes major food groups like milk (ghee, cheese, yogurt)  meat and beans (meat, fish, shellfish, nuts, lentils, beans, peas etc) fruits and vegetables ( apples, grapes, peaches, cauliflower, kale, radishes, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and greens) grains ( breads, rice, rotis, pasta etc) and oils ( vegetable oils etc.

To start the day off on a healthy note, waking up early and getting prepared for the day is always a better idea than sleeping in for longer even if you went to bed pretty late the previous night. If you don’t like a rigorous work out regime, you can always opt for the smoother yoga.
