How to choose the best Best Tightening Procedure for your Skin

Last year I wrote a comprehensive post on why we age and what can we do to stop it.

Fact is, sagging skin happens to every individual as they age.  Even those with terrific genetics will have to face up to wrinkles at some point.  If you do nothing about it now, it will only worsen until it comes to the point of needing surgery to repair the effects.  However, there are numerous skin tightening procedures that can slow it down now.  It is up to you to research what is out there and find what risks are involved and what is most appealing to you.

Where Wrinkles Come From

Unfortunately, wrinkles are a part of the aging process.  Soon after becoming adults, our bodies slow down the production of collagen and elastin.  Those ingredients make the cells of our skin stick together and fill them so they are thicker.  When the body doesn’t produce as many, the skin stretches and thins, giving a saggy appearance.  Most treatments for wrinkles include some form of collagen inducing process to help the body heal naturally.

Not All Treatments Work For Everyone

There are many different skin tightening procedures out there, from injections of fillers to lasers to chemical peels and more.  Each has it’s own risks and side effects if not used properly.  If you have sensitive skin, dark skin, or oily skin, you may be at higher risk.

Dark skin is a problem for several wrinkle reduction procedures such as laser devices.  Since they work by using concentrated beams of light and dark colors absorb light, the standard laser can’t function to the extent it was intended and may burn the skin.  You need to be sure to discuss this with a certified laser technician and make certain they are using a laser designed to handle your skin color.

Oily, dry, or sensitive skin can have various reactions to chemical treatments.  The skin can have an adverse reaction to the chemical resulting in chemical burn or cause a breakout such as acne.  Make the technician aware of your skin type and issues you have with it before starting treatment.

Many aggressive procedures run some risk of side effects, but also can be overdone, resulting in over tightening of the skin.  That doesn’t mean all treatments are dangerous.  Most can have great results, rejuvenating your skin and leaving you glowing.  You just need to find the one that will work best for you and give you the results you’re looking to achieve.  Take the time to ask questions and find out if the treatment is recommended for your skin type.

Choose a Less Aggressive Treatment First

Not all procedures are aggressive and not all of them carry a hefty risk.  There are actually skin tightening methods out there that are color-blind, meaning they are not affected by skin color.  Radio frequency treatments are such a treatment and considered mild.  It is non-invasive and uses sound waves to reduce wrinkles and sags.  The only drawback is that you won’t see the results right away as it continues working under the skin for a while.

We hope this might point you towards the best ways to select a method best suited to your skin type. Whichever course you decide to take on, an opinion from a certified professional is the correct way ahead.
