What to Pack for a Day Long Business Trip

I have been a professional blogger for a little over 2 years now, and during that time I have also been a full time graduate student and research assistant at my university. I have moved around and travelled a lot in my twenties so far, and the most I have stayed at a place has been a year and a half, the least being 2 months. As a result, I am not a fan of being tied down to ‘things’ I own. I love to have a well-curated, capsule wardrobe that makes it easy for me to move, travel with and settle in new places. I assume pretty much all of my twenties are going to be that way before I decide to weigh down the anchor and settle down at one place for a considerable period of time.

In both my tech career and for my blog, I have had to travel for business trips to conferences, seminars, interviews or exclusive, product launches. Brought on by my tendency to match my lifestyle to practicality; I end up traveling light, sometimes with as little as just a handbag for documents and some personal items. I guess it’s just a personal preference and might not be for everyone, but it works well for me.

Here’s a tiny glimpse of what I might carry with me on a Day long business trip:

I have included a few more things that I might throw in if there’s a small event post lunch or in the evening or if I have to stay the night. Rather than buying formal trousers, I like to buy trousers that are casual like the Lee Easy Fit ones, but have a formal look to the with no exposed seams and pockets. They can be easily transformed into a pair of evening pants as well when you pair them up with a casual or strappy top! A tennis skirt goes only too well with a white shirt and completely transforms the look into a business casual or even casual wear. Also, I tend not to go with regular black jackets and look for something slightly less formal that can also go well with a pair of jeans and tee! I just throw in a long white tee if I have to stay overnight.

As for toiletries, I tend to carry travel sized or trial versions of my favorite products. I carry full sized stuff only if I am off to somewhere for a longer period.

  1. You have the cutest clothes!! But yes, moisturizer is so essential. I never used to carry it on flights until I flew 16 hours to Hong Kong and my skin was dry as a desert! Lovely post!

        1. Yes, it is definitely easy on the eyes! I think it would be even more awesome if you could display excerpts of posts rather than whole posts on the homepage, would help cover a lot more ground for the reader and helps in navigation.. Just a thought though! Your pictures and layout are lovely! 🙂 🙂
